As a dental hygienist at Oasis Orthodontics, one of my main responsibilities is to assess the oral health of our patients. This task, I can guarantee, is not easy at all. It is quite difficult, yet I am someone who has always enjoyed challenges. I work with a team of talented people, mainly the orthodontist, making my job easier. I assist in many ways but my primary job is to make sure the patients obtain the guidance they require. In 2011, I finished my Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene at Curtin University of Technology. One of the biggest problems with most people is that they do not understand the importance of good oral hygiene. It is now time to change this view, which is why I make it my goal to educate all patients. I wrote this blog post on the very topic. At Oasis Orthodontics, I am viewed as the “go-to girl” when it comes to providing information and advice. I want people to understand oral hygiene, which will lead to caring for their teeth and mouth better. It should not just be about the treatment but for the overall maintenance and prevention of oral problems as well. I have always had a passion for teeth and the dentistry industry. However, my primary goal is for the patients to grasp that caring for teeth starts at home. Regular visits to the dentist are essential but it should go with brushing and flossing among other things. When I am not working with teeth, I go out to go rollerblading, cycling, or just spending time at the beach.
